Effect of different surface modifications on the bonding of a soft liner to a denture base material

Abstract: Farklı yüzey modifikasyonlarının yumuşak astarın protez kaide materyaline bağlanması üzerine etkisi Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı, polidimetilsiloksan protez astarının farklı boyutlardaki alüminyum oksit parçacıkları ile kumlanmış olan protez kaide maddesine gerilme bağlanma mukavemetini araştırmaktır. Gereç Yöntemler: Dikdörtgen prizma şeklinde kırk adet ısı ile polimerize edilmiş akrilik örnek bağlantı dayanımı için değerlendirilecektir. Örnekler uygulanan yüzey işlemine göre 4 test grubuna ayrılmıştır. Grup I: Yüz… Show more

“…In the presence of sharp alveolar ridge, thin atrophic mucosa, bone undercuts, and xerostomia patients cannot withstand the forces that occur during chewing. 1,2 In this case, soft liners are applied to the tissue surfaces of the prosthesis that comes into contact with the oral mucosa to ensure a balanced distribution of chewing force and prevent traumatization of the sensitive mucosa. 1 For good shock absorption, the thickness of the soft liner should be between 2.4 and 3 mm.…”

“…3,4 Soft liners have several disadvantages such as low tear strength, losing their softness over time, water absorption, porosity, Candida albicans colonization, and failure to bond to the denture base material. 2 It is known that silicone-based soft liner materials are more flexible in changing oral conditions and better preserve their physical properties. However, the main disadvantage of siliconebased soft liner materials is the deterioration of the bond over time due to their structural differences with PMMA.…”
