Effect of Different Hot-Pressing Pressure and Temperature on the Performance of Titanium Mesh-Based MEA for DMFC

Abstract: The hot-pressing process of the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) is one of the research hotspots in the field of the fuel cell. To obtain suitable titanium mesh-based MEA hot pressing process parameters, titanium mesh was used as electrode substrate material. The anode and cathode of MEA were prepared by the drip-coated method, and the titanium mesh-based MEA was prepared under different hot-pressing pressure and temperature, respectively. The performance of titanium mesh-based MEA was studied by morphologica… Show more

“…The thickness sample for 700 psi was 0.18 mm, 63.64% higher than the thickness for the pressure applied more than 800 psi, which was between 0.09 and 0.11 mm. A similar result was obtained by Wang et al (2022), in which the thickness of the titanium mesh-based membrane electron assembly gradually becomes thinner upon pressure increment. Zou et al (2021) also found that the increment in pressure reduces the thickness of the membrane.…”

“…23,25,26 Some studies have shown that hot-pressing allows for graphene transfer to Nafion for applications in fuel cells, 7 as well as isotope separation, 9,10,27 where in the conditions of transfer significantly influence performance. 28,29 Here, we systematically probe parameters affecting facile and scalable transfer of CVD graphene to Nafion via hotpress. 18,22 We find the parameters such as time (t), temperature (T) and pressure (P) significantly influence the quality of direct transfer of CVD graphene to Nafion.…”
