Effect of Different Amounts of TiF3 on the Reversible Hydrogen Storage Properties of 2LiBH4–Li3AlH6 Composite

Abstract: Hydrogen is a potential green alternative to conventional energy carriers such as oil and coal. Compared with the storage of hydrogen in gaseous or liquid phases, the chemical storage of hydrogen in solid complex hydrides is safer and more effective. In this study, the complex hydride composite 2LiBH4–Li3AlH6 with different amounts of TiF3 was prepared by simple ball-milling and its hydrogen storage properties were investigated. Temperature programmed desorption and differential scanning calorimetry were used … Show more

“…Transition metal trifluorides, a class of materials with the chemical formula MF 3 (M = Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, and so forth) have attracted considerable attentions owing to their versatile applications in negative thermal expansion materials, [1][2][3][4] batteries, [5][6][7] and hydrogen storage materials. [8][9][10][11][12] More importantly, they have been demonstrated to be ideal materials to study the Jahn-Teller and spin-orbit coupling effects. [13,14] Under ambient conditions, MF 3 usually adopts a simple perovskite-like structure with a completely vacant A site, [15][16][17][18][19] in which the metal atom is surrounded by a tilted octahedron of corner-shared fluorine atoms.…”
