Effect of dietary pantothenic acid supplement on growth, body composition and intestinal enzyme activities of juvenile Jian carp (Cyprinus carpiovar. Jian)

Abstract: A 9-week feeding trial was carried out with juvenile Jian carp to study the effect of dietary pantothenic acid (PA) on growth, body composition and intestinal enzyme activities. Semi-purified diets with seven levels (4.0, 15.5, 25.6, 36.1, 45.9, 56.1 and 65.9 mg PA kg )1 ) of supplemental calcium d-pantothenate were fed to Jian carp (13.0 ± 0.0 g). PA improved specific growth rate (SGR), protein productive value (PPV), protein efficiency ratio (PER) and lipid production value (LPV) (P < 0.05). Fish fed the co… Show more

“…This study produced results which corroborated the findings of a great deal of the previous work in this field Wen et al (2009);Weinstein et al (2004). Study by Wen et al (2009) examined the effects of aerobics exercise and interval training on body mass index on two different 15-week treatment on various fitness parameters in females.…”

“…The molecular weight distribution of peptide was determined by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-offlight (TOF) mass spectrometry according to Gobom et al (2002). Zinc, ferrum, pyridoxine, pantothenic acid, inositol, thiamine, and riboflavin were formulated to meet the nutrient requirements of Jian carp according to our laboratory previous studies by Tan et al (2011), Ling et al (2010, He et al (2009), Wen et al (2009), Huang et al (2011, respectively. Other nutrients met the requirements of common carp according to NRC (2011).…”

“…The sign most frequently reported in fish caused by PA deficiency is severe hyperplasia of the epithelial cells of gill lamellae (clubbed gills), as well as hemorrhages, sluggishness, high mortality, and anemia (NRC, 2011). Due to this vitamin's essentiality in the normal growth and health of fish, various researchers have attempted to determine qualitative and quantitative dietary requirements for PA which have ranged from 10 to 45 mg PA/kg diet (Cho and Woodward, 1990;Masumoto et al, 1994;Masumoto, 2002;Murai and Andrews, 1979;Ogino, 1967;Roem et al, 1991;Shimeno, 1991;Soliman and Wilson, 1992;Wen et al, 2009;Wilson et al, 1983).…”
