“…In the present study an increase in eicosatrienoic acid and a decrease in arachidonic acid resulted in the liver lecithin and phosphatidyl ethanolamine fractions of cockerels on the HCO diet which was very low in Hnoleic acid. Machlin and Gordon (1962) reported that the tissue arachidonic acid of laying hens fed a HCO diet was stable and there was no presence of eicosatrienoic acid. Reiser (1950) also reported that essential fatty acids are not required by laying hens for maintenance of egg production although the hen cannot synthesize Hnoleic acid from acetate (Murty et al, 1960).…”

“…The proportion of fatty acid was changed to a small extent by DES, C and DES + C. However, the weight of the fatty acids in unit weight ,of turkey meat was greatly changed because of the large effect on the total fat content and consequently on the total fatty acid content. INTRODUCTION Extensive work has been done on the influence of dietary fats on the fatty acid composition of chicken tissue (Machlin et al. 1962;Evans et al, 1962;Adamson et al, 1961 ;Menge et al.…”
