Herein, three novel third‐generation (3G) solar cells: n‐Si/p‐FeSi2/p+‐Si, n‐Si/p‐FeSi2/p+‐BaSi2, and n‐CdS/p‐FeSi2/p+‐BaSi2 based on the orthorhombic iron disilicide (β‐FeSi2) absorber are demonstrated theoretically for multikilowatt photovoltaic (PV) systems and space applications. These cells overcome the complication of producing low voltages (≤450 mV) of FeSi2‐based solar cells due to the narrow bandgap (≈0.87 eV) of the absorber. Using crystalline silicon (c‐Si), cadmium sulfide (CdS), and orthorhombic barium disilicide (β‐BaSi2) as junction partners, effects of parameters such as the thickness, doping and defect densities, band offsets, and temperature are studied systematically by a solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS‐1D). The highest open‐circuit voltage of 958 mV is attained materially with a 300 nm thin absorber. This article renders the optimization of the PV parameters to improve the device performance with power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 28.18%, 31.61%, and 38.93% by the three novel npp+ approaches compared to the PCEs of 15.78% and 24.96% for the solar cells n‐Si/p‐FeSi2 and p‐Si/i‐FeSi2/n‐Si, respectively.

CTL have remarkable influence on the stability and efficiency of PSC. Different CTL combination used with the perovskite forms unique energy band alignment and electric field. They have significant effects on the optoelectrical properties of PSC. Identifying the right CTL for perovskite is crucial. In this work, the PSC of CH3NH3GeI3 are modeled in SCAPS‐1D with 13 CTL. Because of their high carrier‐mobility, chemical‐stability, and excellent electric/thermal conductivity, copper, kesterite and carbon CTL have been selected. The PSC was analyzed in planar(n‐i‐p) and inverted(p‐i‐n). A systematic approach has been adopted to analyze the influence of CTL on the quantum‐efficiency, absorption, transmissivity, band‐alignment, electric‐field, recombination, and IV‐characteristics in both architectures. To further enhance the efficiency, design optimization of layer thickness and doping has been carried‐out. Moreover, the effect of defects, temperature, reflection, and front/back workfunctions on the performance of PSC has also been studied. Based on the results PCBM performed better in planar while C60 performed better in inverted. Most of the Cu‐HTL performed better in inverted architecture while most of the kesterite‐HTLs performed better in planar architecture. The best‐performing inverted perovskite structures was PCBM/Per/CuAlO2 with PCE of 24.32 %, while the best planar structure was C60/Per/CuAlO2 with PCE of 14.82 %.This article is protected by copyright. Herein, three different backsurface‐filed (BSF) layers “SnS, PbS, and V2O5” are investigated on Mo/BSF/CZTS/CdS/AZO heterojunction solar cells using experimental data of CdS thin films. CdS thin films are produced by means of the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique with three different deposition periods. With increasing deposition time, the crystalline sizes of CdS thin films are larger and their crystal structures are developed. In addition, the optical bandgap of CdS thin films is calculated to be 2.4 eV using the absorbance data. Using the solar cell–capacitance–simulator‐1D (SCAPS‐1D) program, the experimental properties of CdS thin films to estimate the performance of p‐CZTS/n‐CdS/AZO heterojunction solar cells are introduced. The best efficiency is 9.32% when the thickness of CdS reaches 150 nm. To further improve the efficiency, different BSF layers (SnS, PbS, and V2O5) are tested in Mo/BSF/CZTS/CdS/AZO solar cells. According to the thickness of the BSF layer, the efficiency of the solar cell increases up to 13.47%, 14.7%, and 17.41% using SnS, PbS, and V2O5 as BSF layers with 0.1 μm thickness.
