“…Similar to the slow quenching process of Al‐Zn‐Mg‐Cu alloys, 35 the supersaturated solid solution in WNZ tended to decompose after welding, forming overgrowth quench‐induced equilibrium phases and nanoscale precipitates. It has been proved that η equilibrium phases as the result of heterogeneous precipitation appear to be mostly nucleated on pre‐existing incoherent Cr or Zr‐containing dispersoids in slow quench processing of Al‐Zn‐Mg‐Cu alloys 21,36 . For 7085Sc alloy, Zr‐containing dispersoids in the matrix were mainly Al 3 (Sc,Zr); thus, the decomposition process of the supersaturated solid solution in WNZ would be associated with Al 3 (Sc,Zr) particles.…”

“…The 7085 aluminum alloy is a newer 7xxx alloy designed for aerospace applications. It has been widely used in many aircraft structural components due to high fracture toughness and low quench sensitivity 19–21 . Because the Cu content of the 7085 alloy exceeds 0.8 wt.%, there are challenges in welding by using fusion welding technologies.…”

“…However, the tensile strength of the 7A85 alloy is relatively low compared to that of the 7A55 alloy. The high-strength 7A55 alloy exhibits poor stress corrosion resistance due to the relatively high content of Cu [6][7][8]. 7A99 alloy, developed by Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials, is a new ultra-high strength and toughness aluminum alloy that has been used on a preliminary basis in weaponry.…”

“…Fink and Willey first use the TTP curves to investigate the quenching sensitivity of 7075 aluminum alloy [8]. Recently, lots of investigations on quenching sensitivity of some 7xxx aluminum alloys have been reported [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. However, most of the previous research objects are high-Cu containing high strength 7xxx aluminum alloy (AA7050 and AA7055) or middle-Cu containing high strength 7xxx aluminum alloy (AA7085) [9,17,18].…”
