Effect of combined treatment with cyclophosphamidum and allicin on neuroblastoma–bearing mice

Abstract: Allicin can improve T cell subsets distribution and inhibit VEGF expression through its immunomodulatory activity, thereby improve the efficiency on NB in coordination with cyclophosphamide.

“…The surveys of epidemiology show that allicin has an inhibition effect on many malignant tumors. A newly issued report indicates that allicin, in combination with cyclophosphamide, can improve the efficiency on neuroblastoma-bearing mice [26]. However, the mechanisms by which allicin mediates its therapeutic effects against neuroblastoma in vitro are unclear.…”

“…It has obvious inhibitory effects on different kinds of tumor cells, such as gastric cancer [16][17][18][19], colon cancer [20], glioblastoma [21], liver cancer [22,23], ovarian cancer [24], and pancreatic cancer [25], and has been put into clinical treatment as an aid cancer drug. A newly issued report shows that allicin, combined with cyclophosphamide, can improve the efficiency on neuroblastomabearing mice [26]. Furthermore, almost all studies suggest that allicin might be an effective and safe anticancer agent.…”

“…Going with the previous results, it was mentioned that the enhanced healing effect induced by GE application can be related to the antioxidative role of allicin in stress-related cellular deficits. In addition, allicin can improve T cell subsets distribution through its immunomodulatory activity as proven by Gao et al [ 33 ].…”

“…DATS is a herbal drug that has long been known for its medicinal properties [19], including antitumor activity [7,8]. Gao et al [20] reported that DATS enhances the efficiency of cyclophosphamide in the treatment of neuroblastoma. Wang et al [21] have reported that recombinant interleukin-2 plus DATS cotreatment suppresses pancreatic cancer.…”
