Effect of Combined Application of Growth Factors and Diode Laser Bio-Stimulation on the Osseo Integration of Dental Implants

Abstract: BACKGROUND:The success of implants is associated first with their osseointegration, and later on with their survival rate. In recent years, many efforts have been exerted to develop implant design, geometry, materials and techniques to enhance the osseointegration process and also to increase the success rate of implant procedures. New techniques, like leukocyte and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) and low-level laser treatment (LLLT), have been developed to enhance the osseointegration around dental implants.AIM:… Show more

“…The application of this combination is widely used in dental surgery [ 23 , 24 ]. The results of previous studies showed that the combined with PRF and LLLT did not show a synergistic effect in the process of bone healing [ 25 , 26 , 27 ]. Only when bone graft material was added to the bone defect area, PRF combined with LLLT in the treatment of bone defect showed synergistic effect to a certain extent [ 28 ].…”

“…Some studies showed the alveolar bone height was preserved while the bone density was increased in the side exposed to low level laser. [10,11,18,36,37] Low level laser application stimulates bone formation and maturation around the implants. [12,14]…”

“…In addition, LLLB enhanced peri implant bone repair, bone implant contact (BIC) and new bone formation when used every 48 hours for 2 weeks. [14][15][16][17][18][19][20] Owing to the scarcity of research work exploring the effect of LLLB on marginal bone loss(MBL) around dental implants especially in moderately controlled DM patients. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of LLLB on radiographic outcomes (MBL) around implants supporting hybrid mandibular prosthesis in controlled diabetic patients…”

“…Superior bone density was also reported in osteotomies treated with L-PRF before implant placement compared to sites without L-PRF after 6 and 12 weeks [ 19 ].…”
