Effect of cold storage on development and demographic parameters ofScolothrips longicornisfed on two-spotted spider mite

Abstract: Cold storage effects on the female predatory thrips Scolothrips longicornis Priesner (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) fed on Tetranychus urticae Koch eggs for different time periods (5, 10, 20 and, 30 days) at 5 or 25 °C (control) on development and life table parameters were examined. Predatory thrips are importantly beneficial insects that have varying degrees of specialization on mites; however, all Scolothrips species are known to be specialized on Tetranychus urticae Koch (Pakyari et al, 2009). Different species of Scolothrips have been examined for reliable potential in the biocontrol of T. urticae, specifically S. sexmaculatus (Pergande) (Coville & Allen, 1977), S. takahashii Priesner (Gotoh et al, 2004), S. indicus Priesner (Ho and Chen 2001a, 2001b and S. longicornis (Pakyari, 2022).
