Effect of Coating on the Specific Properties and Damping Loss Factor of Ultem 1010

Abstract: The dynamic analysis of the fused deposition modeling (FDM) products is one of the most important topics in investigation of 3D manufacturing nowadays. The purpose of this paper to present the dynamic properties of FDM parts made from ULTEM 1010 with different coating layer thicknesses. The coating process consists of two stages: physical vapor deposition (PVD) to pre-coat the samples with a thin layer of Cu and Cr to prepare samples for the next step, electroplating different layer thickness Cu an outer layer… Show more

“…Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is a three-dimensional printing technique that opens up new possibilities for creating parts that would be difficult or impossible to create with traditional techniques [1,2]. It works with a 3D Computer-Aided Design model to selectively join materials layer by layer to create the required component [3].…”

“…Fused deposition modeling (FDM) stands out among additive manufacturing (AM) techniques, providing a means to construct 3D parts for both newly developed prototypes and challenging enduse components that conventional methods find difficult to produce [1,2]. A 3D Computer-Aided Design model guides the selective layer-by-layer material combination for constructing the desired component [3].…”
