Effect of chelated zinc fertilizer on growth parameters of maize crop

Abstract: Maize is a high nutrient demanding and zinc responsive crop. A Field study was conducted at farmer's field, Pavali village of Viruthunagar district during 2019-2020 to evaluate the effect of chelated zinc fertilizer on growth parameters of maize (Zea mays L.). The experiment was laid out as randomized block design with five replication. The results showed that plant height (192.5 cm), leaf length (80.4 cm), leaf breadth (9.82 cm), no. of leaves (13.2) and leaf area index (5.28) responded positively towards soi… Show more

“…The results in the table (3) showed that zinc spray had a significant effect on the activity of catalase enzyme, which increased with increasing spray concentrations. The concentration of 200 mg.L -1 gave the highest average of 49.74 U.min.g -1 fw , while the control treatment gave the lowest average of 37.25 U.min.g -1 fw.…”

“…It have a high nutritional value of vitamins, minerals and proteins and is included in various food and industrial fields [2]. It is one of the economic crops due to its high productivity and its ability to be cultivated in different conditions and for two season, as well as its short ripening period [3] . Corn production occupies an advanced position after the wheat and rice crops [4].…”

“…Kothaipriya et al [20] reported that significantly higher plant height (192.5 cm), number of leaves (13.2) and leaf area index (5.28) of maize under STCR + soil application of Zn-lysinate formulation @ 7.5 kg/ha + 0.5% Zn-lysinate spray at 30 & 45 days after sowing. Yeboah et al [21] noted that maximum plant height and seed yield of common bean obtained with FA of combination of Zn + Mg aminochelate fertilizer as compared to common fertilizer Zn, Mg and water spray.…”
