“…Tourmaline is a kind of borosilicate complex mineral, whose general chemical formula can be written as XY 3 Z 6 [Si 6 O 18 ] [BO 3 ] 3 W 4 , where X is Na + , Ca 2+ , K + , or vacancy; Y is Mg 2+ , Fe 2+ , Mn 2+ , Al 3+ , Mn 3+ , Cr 3+ , Ti 4+ , or Li + ; Z is Al 3+ , V 3+ ,Cr 3+ , or Mg 2+ , and W is OH -, F -, or O 2- [4][5], has the property of spontaneous polarity and far infrared emission. It is found that the high far infrared emission of tourmaline is due to cell volume [6], pyroelectric effect [7] chemical component [8] and the infrared activity of vibration in its crystal structure [9], Yang et al [10] has found the far infrared emissivity of black tourmaline which is calcinated in reduction atmosphere is higher than Far-infrared ceramic powder. Meng [11] has indicated that tourmaline powders exhibit improved far infrared emission properties as the particle size decreases, and the emissivity values of the samples with D50 size of 2.67 μm and 0.2 μm are 0.973 and 0.991, respectively.…”
