“…In the peanut seed, which contains about 50% lipid by weight, the production of smaller seeds induced by irradiation with light may be due to the decrease of the rates of production of lipids, the synthesis of which may be regulated by light. It was reported that a deficiency of Ca 2+ ion in soil, as well as light irradiation, resulted in smaller seeds, with lower TG and PL contents, and increased contents of sugar, DG and FA (Inanaga et al 1988(Inanaga et al , 1990. However, there may be differences between the mechanisms controlling the reduction of the accumulation of lipids by the irradiation of fruit with light and by Ca2+-deficiency in the soil because no differences in the PL content were caused by light irradiation while the PL contents decreased by Ca2 § -ciency.…”
