“…In the present study , 32 white mice Balb /C (two months age ) were used ,there were divided into four equal groups . Three groups were injected with fungal suspention of candida albicans in doses of 1x10 6 ,1x10 8 and 3x10 8 cell/ml ,whereas the fourth group was regarded as control and injected with 0.5 ml normal saline solution . All were dissected after 6 days of injection to study the physiological effect of the yeast on blood , which include RBCand WBC count , ‫العدد‬ ، 1 ‫السنة‬ ، 2225 44 Hb concentration and PCV ratio .…”

“…Previously, tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) was demonstrated to be a principal mediator of endotoxic shock syndrome, and mice administered with this cytokine reacted similarly to patients with endotoxemia (4,6 (10,21,22,26). In addition, our previous study (15) demonstrated that prophylactic treatment with G-CSF was effective in the protection of granulocytopenic mice from pulmonary candidiasis when used by itself or in combination with antifungal agents. In the present study, a lethal murine model of pulmonary candidiasis was established, and the kinetics of TNF-a production in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) as well as in serum was examined and compared with that in the accumulation of inflammatory cells and with the count of C. albicans in the lung.…”
