Effect of Amine Uptake Inhibitors on the Uptake of 14C‐Bretylium in Intact and Degenerating Sympathetic Nerves of the Rat

Abstract: The effect of different amine uptake inhibitors on the accumulationof 14C-bretyliuminsympathetically denervated or decentralized salivary glands were studied in vivo in rats 11-14 hours after the surgical intervention. The time period chosen is known to be critical for the delaying effect of bretylium on the degeneration transmitter release in sympathetically innervated organs.
