“…In the present study, gabapentin was the only treatment that reduced postoperative pain scores of cats compared to the placebo-treated group, suggesting a potential analgesic effect, although superiority over alprazolam was not substantiated. Although human studies have shown that benzodiazepines given preoperatively can reduce postoperative pain through psychological factors [42], alprazolam is not considered to have analgesic effects postoperatively [43][44][45]. This observation is also reflected in the results of the present study, as postoperative pain scores of group A were similar to those of group P. Preoperative administration of gabapentin has been found to significantly decrease postoperative pain scores and the need of additional opioid analgesia in humans [46] and has also been shown to increase the time until patients warrant further analgesic medications [47].…”

“…2,16 This study demonstrates a significant reduction in LOS, opioid consumption, and PRPS after the implementation of our Previous studies have evaluated the impact of multimodal regimens on outcomes in living kidney donors using a variety of therapies. [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] However, there are several aspects of our protocol that make it unique. First, our regimen included several pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic interventions without the use of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).…”

“…In addition to optimizing surgical techniques, many centers have also pursued multimodal pain management pathways to help continue to improve pain control and reduce complications. [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] These regimens typically include a combination of…”
