Effect of adipose derived stromal vascular fraction on leprosy neuropathy: A Preliminary report

Abstract: Background Adipose derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF) contains a heterogeneous population of mononuclear cells, progenitor cells and about 1–10% are mesenchymal stromal cells. These cells are an ideal candidate for regenerative medicine for peripheral neuropathy. Leprosy is a disabling disorder with neuropathy, usually with consequences of permanent disability of the extremities. We conducted a preliminary study to evaluate the cell yield, its characteristics and clinical outcomes after SVF injections in … Show more

“…Moreover, it is technically advisable to use homogenous populations of somatic cells or progenitor cells to reprogram them into iPSCs for robustness in downstream applications. For example Adipose-derived stromal vascular fractions (SVF) are a heterogeneous population containing progenitor cells, mononuclear cells and 1%-10% mesenchymal stem cells, adipose-derived endothelial cells and pericytes [23]. Precisely, the SVFs contain adipose-derived stem cells and hematopoietic stem cell progenitors expressing markers such as CD34 high CD45 À CD31 À CD146 À adipose-derived stromal/stem cells (ADSCs), CD34 low CD45 + CD206 + CD31 À CD146 À hematopoietic stem cell-progenitors (HSC-progenitors), CD34 high CD45 À CD31 + CD146 + adipose tissue-endothelial cells and CD45 À CD34 À CD31 À CD146 + pericytes [24].…”
