Abstract:Ointments are semisolid preparations intended for topical application to the skin or mucous membranes. The ointment formulation requires the presence of an ointment base, the ointment base itself is an inactive carrier substance from topical preparations that can be in the form of liquid or solid which brings the active ingredient to contact with the skin.
