Effect Analysis of Mineral Salt Concentrations on Nosiheptide Production by Streptomyces actuosus Z-10 Using Response Surface Methodology

Abstract: Abstract:The objective of this study was to develop an optimal combination of mineral salts in the fermentation medium for nosiheptide (Nsh) production using statistical methodologies. A Plackett-Burman design (PBD) was used to evaluate the impacts of eight mineral salts on Nsh production. The results showed that among the no-significant factors, CaCO3, and K2HPO4·3H2O had positive effects, whereas FeSO4·7H2O, CuSO4·5H2O, and ZnSO4·7H2O had negative effects on Nsh production. The other three significant factor… Show more

“…a 7-fold increase in tyloson production by Streptomyces fradiae (Choi et al, 1996). Zhou et al (2014) indicated that the metal salts in the media could also affect the production of antibiotics. They found that addition of Na 2 SO 4 , MnSO4•H 2 O, and MgSO 4 •7H 2 O in the culture media increases the nosiheptide production by Streptomyces actuosus to 1.5 fold.…”

“…The biosynthesis of some metabolites depends on increased concentrations while others are produced exclusively in the presence of a specific metal. 66,79 Furthermore, regardless of the use of genome mining as an approach to discover novel secondary metabolites, no major advances in the identification of new natural products have been made. Certainly, an This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry 2016 improvement in the understanding of the secondary metabolite biosynthetic pathways in streptomycetes will increase the use of different cell culture systems and provide a new means for a cost-effective screening and re-screening of new and established strains.…”

“…One mutagenesis study has shown that substitution of Ser13 does not particularly affect the biosynthetic pathway except for preventing deacylation to the C-terminal amide by NosA . There has been more interest in optimizing nosiheptide production due to its use as a livestock growth promoter. , …”
