Efeitos da munificência no desempenho da firma

Abstract

ResumoSupõe-se, neste artigo, que o impacto financeiro decorrente da disponibilidade de recursos (munificência) na indústria é diferente daquele proveniente da disponibilidade de recursos no setor de atuação das firmas. Como a indústria se constitui em um subconjunto do setor, além dos efeitos individuais sobre o desempenho, supõe-se que haverá também um efeito conjunto oriundo da interação entre indústria e setor. Com o objetivo de identificar os efeitos da munificência da indústria e do setor no desempenho da firma, foram utilizadas como unidades de análise 96 firmas brasileiras de capital aberto, ativas no período 2010 a 2012, atuantes nos setores industrial, financeiro e de bens de consumo cíclicos. Como resultados da estimação dos modelos por regressão múltipla, foram identificados como significativos o impacto da munificência da indústria e do setor de atuação no desempenho da firma, bem como da interação entre os dois níveis de análise e do tamanho da firma, considerado como variável de controle. A capacidade explicativa do modelo situou-se em patamar elevado -acima de 80% -e os resultados apurados estão em alinhamento com as evidências empíricas de McArthur e Nystrom (1991), Andrews (2009) e Andrews e Johansen (2012) em relação aos efeitos da munificência no desempenho da firma.Palavras-chave: Ambiente competitivo. AbstractIt is assumed in this article that the financial impact due to the availability of resources (munificence) in the industry differs from that arising from the availability of resources in the sector. As the industry constitutes a subset of the sector, in addition to the individual effects on performance it is assumed that there will also be a joint effect from the interaction between industry and sector. In order to identify the effects of industry's munificence of firm performance, were used as units of analysis Brazilian firms, active in the period 2010 to 2012, operating in Industrial, Financial and Cyclical consumer goodssectors. As results were identified as significant impact of the munificence of industry and sector on the firm's performance, as well as the interaction between the two levels of analysis, and the size of the firm, considered as control variable. The explanatory model capacity stood at high level-above 80%-and the results established are in alignment with the empirical evidence of McArthur and Nystrom (1991), Andrews (2009) and Andrews and Johansen (2012 in relation to the effects of munificenceon the performance of the firm.
