Efeito do uso profilático do anti-inflamatório não-esteroide ibuprofeno sobre o desempenho em uma sessão de treino de força

Abstract: Introduction: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, have been used by athletes of several sports modalities in order to increase athletic performance. Objective: To verify the effect of the prophylactic use of ibuprofen on performance in a strength training session. Methods: A crossover, randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled clinical trial was developed with twelve regular strength training male practitioners, which performed a strength training session after ibuprofen (1,2 g) ing… Show more

“…Em um ensaio clínico acerca do efeito do uso profilático do ibuprofeno no desempenho do treino de força, esse medicamento não atuou na promoção de qualquer efeito benéfico nesse viés, evidenciando ainda riscos do seu uso indiscriminado como distúrbios hidroeletrolíticos, nefrotoxicidade e fadiga muscular (CORREA, et al 2013).…”

“…According to Grgic et al, higher loads cause greater wear and micro injury and thus necessitate greater recovery (19). A recent double-blind, placebo-controlled study that provided 1.2 g of ibuprofen showed no statistical benefit of NSAID consumption in the number of repetitions between sets and in total training volume in the bench press and squat exercises at a load of 65% of 1 RM in young men (11). The load used in that study was low; in contrast, the load in our study was high, with potential to provoke a greater inflammatory process and neural fatigue.…”

“…Exercise intensity and time were adapted from Correa et al (11). After a 30-second warm-up at 30% of 1 RM in the horizontal bench press exercise, participants from both groups began the test session at 6:00 P.M. Each participant performed three sets of the horizontal bench press exercise at 90% of 1 RM until concentric failure, with a 1-minute inter-set rest interval.…”
