Intercropping of annual crops with tropical forages is an effective cultivation method to maximize grain production and pasture formation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the agronomic characteristics of sunflower and the productive and nutritional characteristics of Brachiaria brizantha cultivars grown with intercropping during two different sowing seasons in the interim harvest of the Center-West region of Brazil. The experiment was conducted in the municipality of Rio Verde, Goiás (GO), using a randomized block design with a 3x2+4 factorial scheme and three replicates per treatment. The following factors were tested: three Brachiaria brizantha cultivars (Marandu palisadegrass, Piata palisadegrass and Xaraes palisadegrass) grown with intercropping in the inter-row with the sunflower cultivar Charrua in two different sowing seasons (February and March); four additional treatments of sunflower; and the three tested Brachiaria brizantha cultivars grown in monoculture. Intercropping of sunflower with the Xaraes palisadegrass cultivar negatively affected the agronomic characteristics of sunflower, and intercropping with Marandu palisadegrass and Piata palisadegrass cultivars is recommended. Preference should be given to the Xaraes palisadegrass cultivar for forage production and to the Piata palisadegrass cultivar for the production of forage with higher nutritional value. Sowing in March led to the best sunflower agronomic characteristics, without affecting the productive and nutritional characteristics of the forages. Intercropping of sunflower with Brachiaria brizantha cultivars is therefore a promising cultivation method for the production of achenes and forage during the interharvest in the Center-West region of Brazil. ResumoO consórcio de culturas anuais e forrageiras tropicais na mesma área tem-se mostrado como técnica de cultivo eficaz para maximizar a produção de grãos e formação de pastagens. Neste contexto, objetivou-se avaliar as características agronômicas do girassol, bem como as características produtivas e nutricionais de cultivares de Brachiaria brizantha consorciado com o girassol em duas épocas de semeadura, na safrinha na região Centro-Oeste. O experimento foi conduzido no município de Rio Verde-GO no delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso com três repetições em esquema fatorial 3x2+4, sendo três cultivares de Brachiaria brizantha (Marandu; Piatã e Xaraés) consorciadas na entrelinha com o cultivar de girassol Charrua em duas épocas de semeadura (fevereiro e março), além de quatro tratamentos adicionais referentes aos monocultivos do girassol e dos três cultivares de Brachiaria brizantha. Os resultados permitiram constatar que o consórcio do girassol com o capim-xaraés afeta negativamente as características agronômicas do girassol, sendo mais recomendando o consórcio com os capins marandu e piatã. Resumo -O girassol (Helianthus annuus L.) encontra-se entre as quatro culturas de maior produção de óleo comestível no mundo, e destaca-se pela sua adaptação a diferentes condições edafoclimáticas. Objetivou-se com este estudo avaliar o desempenho agronômico de dez genótipos de girassol no norte de Minas Gerais. O estudo foi conduzido nas Fazendas Experimentais da Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária de Minas Gerais (Epamig), nos municípios de Jaíba, distrito de Mocambinho e Nova Porteirinha. Fez-se a avaliação do desempenho agronômico destes genótipos analisando as seguintes características: floração inicial, altura das plantas, diâmetro da haste, número de folhas, circunferência do capítulo, estande final e rendimento de grãos. Os dados coletados foram submetidos à análise de variância e ao teste de Scott-Knott a 5% de probabilidade. Houve variação em todos os parâmetros avaliados no comportamento agronômico dos genótipos, os quais apresentaram bom desempenho quando cultivados em Mocambinho e Nova Porteirinha, no norte de Minas Gerais. Os genótipos avaliados apresentam ciclo precoce, exceto o SYN 039A, com ciclo médio. Com a redução do ciclo da cultura, observa-se também redução na maioria das variáveis avaliadas.Palavras-chave -Helianthus annuus L. Oleaginosa. Produção. Semiárido Abstract -The sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is one of the four cultures of the largest production of edible oil worldwide, and stands out for its adaptation to different edafoclimatic conditions. The objective of this study was to evaluate the agronomic performance of ten cultivars of sunflower in northern Minas Gerais. The study was conducted at the Experimental Farms of the Agricultural Research Company of Minas (Epamig) in the municipalities of Jaíba, District of Mocambinho and Nova Porteirinha. The agronomic perfomance of these genotypes was evaluated by reviewing these characteristics: initial flowering, plant height, stem diameter, leaf number, circumference of the chapter, final stand, and yield. The data collected were subjected to variance analysis and the Scott-Knott test at 5% probability. There was variation in all parameters evaluated in agronomic behavior of genotypes, which showed good performance when grown in Mocambinho and Nova Porteirinha, in the north of Minas Gerais. All genotypes evaluated presented early cycle, with the exception of SYN 039A, which demonstrated a medium cycle. With the reduction of the crop cycle, there is also a reduction in the majority of variables.

A B S T R A C TThe objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of irrigation and fungicide application on the occurrence of diseases and cypsela yield of two genotypes of sunflower. The experiments were carried out in Santa Maria-RS, during the regular season in 2007 and the late season, in 2008. Plants were sown on 04/09/2007 and 21/01/2008, in a completely randomized design, with four replicates. A 2 x 6 factorial scheme was used, with the sunflower genotypes Aguará 03 and Hélio 358 and six fungicide application schemes, which were determined by the FAST forecasting system, as follows: FAST 16, FAST 22 and FAST 28, without irrigation, FAST 16 IRR under irrigated condition, in addition to irrigated control (CONTROL IRR) and control (CONTROL). Disease progress was analyzed based on weekly observations of the severity of the symptoms. It was verified that irrigation increases sunflower cypsela yield in the regular season, provided that weather conditions are not favorable for the occurrence of alternaria and septoria leaf blights or that fungicides are applied. In the late season, under irrigated condition, fungicide application is necessary to control alternaria and septoria leaf blights.Irrigação e aplicação de fungicidas na ocorrência de doenças e na produtividade do girassol em períodos de safra e safrinha R E S U M O Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, avaliar o efeito da irrigação e da aplicação de fungicidas na ocorrência de doenças e na produtividade de cipselas de dois genótipos de girassol. Os experimentos foram conduzidos em Santa Maria, RS, nos períodos de safra de 2007 e safrinha de 2008. As semeaduras foram realizadas em 04/09/2007 e 21/01/2008, sendo utilizado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições. Foi utilizado um esquema fatorial 2 x 6, constituído pelos genótipos de girassol Aguará 03 e Hélio 358 e seis esquemas de aplicação de fungicida, determinados em função do sistema de previsão FAST, os quais foram: FAST 16, FAST 22 e FAST 28, sem irrigação, FAST 16 IRR, em condição irrigada, além das testemunhas irrigada (TEST IRR) e não irrigada (TEST). O progresso da doença foi analisado com base nas observações semanais da severidade dos sintomas da doença. Verificou-se que a irrigação aumenta a produtividade de cipselas de girassol no cultivo de safra desde que as condições meteorológicas não sejam favoráveis para a ocorrência de mancha de alternaria e septoria ou que se apliquem fungicidas. Na safrinha em condição irrigada, a aplicação de fungicidas é necessária para o controle de mancha de alternaria e septória.
