The collection of scientific articles brings together articles authored by the teachers of the Undergraduate Courses in Chemistry, Mathematics and Food Technology at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Tocantins IFTO -Paraíso do Tocantins campus. The scientific articles referring to the areas of exact and earth sciences, agrarian sciences and engineering, were prepared based on research and scientific initiation works developed, during the years 2018 and 2019, by teachers with the collaboration of scholarship students and volunteers, in order to contribute for academic quality, providing the ability to learn using the stimulus of scientific research and the production of knowledge.The scientific works in this collection were presented at conferences, in an expanded summary format, allowing its authors to exchange experiences with researchers from Brazilian universities, members of the scientific communities in Brazil and abroad, on the dissemination and application of scientific research carried out. The publication of the collection reflects the commitment of the organizing professors with the technical-scientific bases and the development of scientific research in the undergraduate courses of the IFTO Campus Paraíso do Tocantins.

A dilatação volumétrica é variável e tende a manter uma relação direta com a composição química. Em geral, materiais em que as ligações químicas são fortes, apresentam baixos coeficientes de dilatação volumétrica. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estimar o coeficiente de dilatação volumétrica de soluções aquosas de fenilhidrazina com frações molares diferentes, a partir de dados experimentais da massa específica em função da temperatura. Esses dados estão disponíveis na literatura. Em um intervalo de 293 a 353 K, os valores do coeficiente de dilatação volumétrica variaram de 3,55x10 -4 K -1 (solução com fração molar 0,10) a 7,66x10 -4 K -1 (solução com fração molar 0,50). Constatou-se que o coeficiente de dilatação volumétrica aumenta entre as soluções com frações molares de 0,10 a 0,50. Para soluções com frações maiores que 0,50 até 0,90, o coeficiente de dilatação volumétrica diminui. Provavelmente, esse comportamento esteja associado ao tipo de ligação intermolecular formado entre a água e a fenilhidrazina. Palavras-chave: Dilatação. Efeito. Concentração. Fenilhidrazina. Solução aquosa. ABSTRACTThe volumetric expansion is variable and tends to maintain a direct relationship with the chemical composition. In general, materials in which chemical bonds are strong have low coefficients of volumetric expansion. The aim of this work was to estimate the coefficient of volumetric expansion of aqueous solutions of phenylhydrazine with different molar fractions from experimental data of specific weight as a function of temperature. These data are available in the literature. In a range 293-353 K, the values of coefficient of volumetric expansion ranged from 3.55x10 -4 K -1 (solution with molar fraction 0.10) to 7.66x10 -4 K -1 (solution with molar fraction 0.50). It was found that the coefficient of volumetric expansion increases with increasing molar fractions from 0.10 to 0.50. For solutions with molar fractions between 0.50 and 0.90, the coefficient of volumetric expansion decreased. Probably, this behavior is associated with the type of intermolecular bond formed between water and phenylhydrazine.
