Show more

“…Within the usual human microbiota is the bacterial genus Lactobacillus, with species widely recognized as probiotics for presenting beneficial properties to the individual who consumes it in appropriate quantities, so they are an interesting alternative in the prevention and treatment of diseases such as Oral Candidiasis. Hence, the objective of this research was to evaluate preliminarily, through the use of a modified agar diffusion technique, the antagonistic activity of five (5) probiotic Lactobacillus strains over twelve (12) isolated C. albicans obtained from oral lesions in patients with systemic diseases. The results showed an 88.26% average inhibition in C. albicans growth, standing out Lactobacillus paracasei spp.…”

“…Flavonoids attract attention due to their ability to reduce the incidence of many diseases. Its recommended intake or supplementation of flavonoids with a combination of another antioxidants, vitamins and minerals can reduce incidence of cancer, cardiovascular mortality and ischemic vascular disease [39,[49][50][51][52][53]. According to many studies, in flavonoid-rich foods the daily intake of these compounds can be range between 50 and 800 mg/ day, mainly with the consumption of fruits and vegetables [6,54].…”

“…Probiotics are defined as living microorganisms that when administered in appropriate quantities confer health benefits to the consumer (Tamang et al, 2016a, b;Prado et al, 2008;Manzano et al, 2012). On order to be beneficial, they must be present in a large number of 10 8 to 10 9 cells per product gram at the time of consumption (Prado et al, 2008).…”
