Efectos agudos de la rumbaterapia sobre los niveles de glucosa en sangre en mujeres con diabetes mellitus tipo 2: reporte de caso

Abstract

Introduction:The risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM2) increases with age, obesity and low levels of physical activity. Objective: To analyze the effects of 4 sessions with rumbatherapy on blood glucose levels in adult women with DM2. Materials and methods: Case study, with a quantitative approach. The total sample of this study consisted of 2 women older than 45 years diagnosed with DM2. The data obtained at the beginning and at the end of the intervention and during each session were presented descriptively. Results and discussion: After 4 sessions with rumbatherapy, considerable reductions were observed in the initial and final glucose levels. Conclusion: An association was established between performing rumbatherapy as a non-pharmacological resource and the reduction of blood glucose levels in the two women with DM2. More studies are needed to corroborate the application of rumbatherapy in patients with DM2.
