EEG-vigilance regulation is associated with and predicts ketamine response in major depressive disorder

Cheng-Teng Ip,

Golo Kronenberg
et al.

Abstract: Ketamine offers promising new therapeutic options for difficult-to-treat depression. The efficacy of treatment response, including ketamine, has been intricately linked to EEG measures of vigilance. This research investigated the interplay between intravenous ketamine and alterations in brain arousal, quantified through EEG vigilance assessments in two distinct cohorts of depressed patients (original dataset: n = 24; testing dataset: n = 24). Clinical response was defined as a decrease from baseline of >33%… Show more

“…Reviews of the literature on the mechanisms of action of the antidepressant effects of ketamine and that of its isomers are available [ 1 , 2 , 25 , 30 , 37 , 38 , 77 , 78 , 79 , 80 , 81 , 82 , 83 , 84 ]. New examinations on the mechanistic and therapeutic roles for NMDAR antagonism have also been published [ 85 ].…”
