“…One historian who has examined all the available Hubble material, Norriss Hetherington, argues that he continued to favour the relativistic expanding universe for philosophical reasons even though his own research and the age of the Earth refuted it (Hetherington 1971b(Hetherington , 1982(Hetherington , 1989(Hetherington , 1990. For example, unpublished notes for the Hubble-Tolman paper show that the evidence was even more unfavourable to the expanding-universe theory than their published paper admitted, a fact that Hetherington interprets to mean that Hubble let his bias in favour of the expanding model outweigh the empirical facts.…”
