The objective of this paper is to analyse the perspectives of civil society actors in Malta about the country's sustainable energy policy and its impact on green jobs. Perspectives of 11 civil society actors comprising employers, trade unions and nongovernmental organisations are analysed to provide a broad reflexive analysis of the policy process in question. Highlights • A qualitative study that investigates civil society perspectives on green jobs in sustainable energy in the context of Malta, a microstate within the European Union. • There is a consensus within civil society with respect to the need of increased representation in policymaking. • Civil society is characterised by lack of coordination and different interests. • There is a need for policy to address this through projects, funding and other incentives that foster coordination between different types of civil society organisations.
