PurposeWe conduct a multidisciplinary systematic literature review on climate neutrality in the supply chain. While carbon neutrality has gained prominence, our study argues that achieving carbon neutrality alone is not enough to address climate change effectively, as non-CO2 greenhouse gases (GHG) are potent contributors to global warming.Design/methodology/approachWe used multiple databases, including EBSCO, ProQuest, Science Direct, Emerald and Google Scholar, to identify articles related to climate neutrality in the context of non-CO2 gases. A total of 71 articles in environmental science, climate change, energy systems, agriculture and logistics are reviewed to provide insights into the climate neutrality of supply chains.FindingsWe find that, in addition to CO2, other GHG such as methane, nitrous oxide, ozone and fluorinated gases also significantly contribute to climate change. Our literature review identified several key pillars for achieving net-zero GHG emissions, including end-use efficiency and electrification, clean electricity supply, clean fuel supply, “GHG capture, storage and utilization,” enhanced land sinks, reduced non-CO2 emissions and improved feed and manure management.Originality/valueWe contribute to the literature on climate neutrality of supply chains by emphasizing the significance of non-CO2 GHG along with CO2 and highlighting the need for a comprehensive approach to climate neutrality in addressing climate change. This study advances the understanding of climate neutrality of supply chains and contributes to the discourse on effective climate change mitigation strategies. It provides clear future research directions.

blood supply chain network design is an approach to design an efficient blood supply chain network. This study developed a model for determining the best Blood Supply Chain Network Design solution that considering costs and social sustainability. The developed model was divided into four echelons: blood donation centers, blood banks, regional hospitals, and demand points. The objective of this research was to minimize total supply chain costs while maximize job opportunities. This study considered the concept of lateral transshipment and blood substitution at the third echelon, namely the regional hospital, to ensure that demand was met. The concept of lateral transshipment enabled regional hospitals that having excess of blood unit to satisfy blood supplies to other regional hospitals. Furthermore, blood substitution was a response to emergency conditions, specifically a shortage of appropriate blood product units. Blood substitution scheme is allowed in this research, that is, each type of blood product with a certain group can not only meet its own demand, but can also be used as a replacement for the same product with other compatible groups. a multi-objective possibilistic mixed integer linear programming model was developed. According to the obtained results, the optimal number of facilities to satisfy the uncertain demand, blood flow between supply chain echelons, network cost, and the number of jobs created can be discovered by the model.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of ambidextrous strategy on supply chain resilience and its impact on firm performance, employing the Dynamic Capabilities View.Design/methodology/approachThrough a survey of 215 supply chain professionals, the research employs a structural equation modeling analysis to examine the relationships between ambidexterity, agile operations, resilience, and performance.FindingsThe findings demonstrate that the ambidextrous strategy significantly enhances both agile operations and supply chain resilience. In turn, agile operations and resilience positively impact firm performance. The study also reveals that agile operations and supply chain resilience partially mediate the relationship between ambidextrous strategy and firm performance.Originality/valueThis research contributes to the supply chain management literature by highlighting the importance of an ambidextrous approach in fostering agile operations and resilience, thereby improving firm performance. It extends the dynamic capabilities view framework by elucidating how ambidexterity acts as a pivotal mechanism for adapting to disruptions and securing competitive advantage in volatile markets. Finally, measurements of ambidextrous strategy and resilience are provided to further enhance practitioners’ understanding of building these important components in networks.
