It is seen that sports, as a part of social culture, is affected by developments and innovations throughout history and social process. From the increase or decrease in the popularity of sports according to socio-cultural changes, to the greater adoption of different sports practices in different geographies, all can be considered as a result of the dynamism of sports. Especially with the industrial revolution, developments in sports practices have progressed parallelly. The development of materials in several sports events has also supported the improvement of performance. While objective outcome evaluations have become more sensitive under those conditions, subjective outcome evaluations have become as rational as possible due to the developing technology. This condition has strengthened the factor of "fairness", which is one of the main foundations of sports. Nowadays, we are trying to get used to the fast intervention of the development of technology, digitalization, and the use of artificial intelligence in our lives and even in our clothes with wearable technology. Athletes, coaches, managers and other supporting variables of the athlete, are trying to use the newest generation of sports technology as much as possible. It will be very important to closely follow the developments of digitalization and to be able to use functional products in health and performance development. The purpose of this book is to share current developments and trends regarding the use of developing technology in sports, to examine the current state of artificial intelligence applications in sports, and to give examples of the use of technology in different team and individual sport events. Further the book aimed to provide information about technological developments in outdoor recreational activities as well as in performance sports. I would like to express my gratitude to all my colleagues who contributed to this book with the title “The use of developing technology in sports” by writing chapters. I wish that this book will be beneficial to those who do research on the areas of developing technology in sports and to those who are interested, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Işık BAYRAKTAR (PhD) Editor October, 2023 Alanya, Turkiye

As mentioned in the Editorial (Shimano 2023a) at the beginning of the year, 2023 seems to be a turning point for Species Diversity (SD). During the past four years of my tenure, we have attempted to make various style changes to bring our journal closer to global standards in line with the current trends in the world's scientific journals in biology. In particular, we have made several changing points in the style of SD in 2023. Starting with adding a declaration at the time of submission, we have made style changes in several parts of the article. "Authors Contributions", "Funding", and "Declarations" for conflict of interest at the end of the article have been added to improve the responsibility and transparency of authors in the preparation of their articles. Due to this change in the style of articles, Notes (Shimano 2023b) and Corrections were published on SD.In addition, although it is a minor detail, we have decided to clarify the "doi" notations of references, which were previously cross-linked with the reference list of the article using the function of the publication server, J-Stage.The most significant event is the journal's full Open Access status. As clearly stated at the footer on the first page of each article, from Volume 28 Issue No. 2 in 2023, all articles of SD are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License. The webpage of SD was made independent of the Japanese Society of Systematic Zoology (JSSZ) that publishes the SD, and efforts were made to create a user-friendly page. Again, The Article Processing Charge (APC) is 5000 Japanese yen (JPY), which is lower than the member fee of the JSSZ because there is no subscription fee for the other Japanese-language journal (member fees increased to 8000 JPY after 2022, but SD has fixed APC at 5000 JPY).Finally, we would like to emphasize that we have reorganized our Editorial Board inviting several new members to make it more active, and we have also indicated the new intentions of the members on the web page. We expect that the new members will continue to work to improve the journal's content. We are also fortunate to have the new SD Editor-in-Chief starting in 2024, who is already in the process of taking over.On this occasion at the end of my tenure, I believe that SD will continue to move forward steadily, with a primary focus on the terrestrial, freshwater, and marine fauna of Japan, East Asia, and surrounding areas and seas, but also to contribute broadly to our understanding of the diversity of fauna in other parts of the world. I hope to receive many valuable contributions to the further progress of SD.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
