The utilisation of solar resources has become of utmost importance for the transition of the global, carbon intensive economy. In New Zealand the uptake of solar energy has increased substantially, but the relative contribution to the overall energy mix is still small. Previous research efforts on the solar resource across the country are revisited with improved satellite-modelled data from Solargis to derive a solar atlas for the country. A comparison is made with NIWA data, which shows that the modelled data are at an adequate level of accuracy and improves our understanding of the solar resource at an appropriate spatial and temporal resolution. The solar atlas makes available a commercial satellite data source and informs further investigations into how solar can, and will, play a more meaningful role in our transition to a low carbon future.

The first section of this paper presents the conditions of solar radiation orientation in Kosovo. The sheer existence of the sunlight is indeed an inexhaustible source of renewable energy having ample potential to meet all humankind’s needs for it when innovative technology is used in compliance with modern standards appropriate to economic and social environment and to the nature itself, too. The research conducted for the purpose of the present paper reveals that the greatest amount of radiant energy is focused on the absorber of the collector sensor which transmits the entire moving space at right angles to the sunlight. It is important to note that the collector angle in relation to the horizontal plane cannot be less than 20°, because there is a possibility that the collector, due to the small angle, is covered in dirt and aerosol pollution. These data ensure that best performance in high generation efficiency is reached by improving harnessing patterns in solar cell response. The objective of the Kosovo Plan in 10 years’ period has stimulated the support policy for renewable energy sources, set to be at least 10% at the national level. This paper examines radiation efficiency assessments under sensor monitoring over the absorption space where all time, high absorption power PV system panels are located. Experimental study shows that Kosovo has radiation potential due to its Geographical position equal to 1400kWh, with the optimal sensor orientation angle of 25° in the Gjakova Region. The solar radiation efficiency for one-year period has resulted in increased performance under sensor monitoring during the months of March - September, from 0.89 kWh/m2/y to 0.92 kWh/m2/y, when the equinox provides the longest sunlight intervals.

The Java Sea is an area with the highest rate of exploitation of fishery resources in Indonesia. As much as 32% of the total national fishery production or 2.2 million tons has come from catches in the Java Sea, even though the area of these waters only covers 7% of the total area of national waters. Fisheries productivity is related to the net primary productivity value resulting from the activity of phytoplankton or chlorophyll-a. Net primary productivity (NPP) is influenced by the presence of nutrients, light, chlorophyll-a, Photosynthetically Available Radiation (PAR) and sea surface temperature (SST). The purpose of this research is to analyze the distribution value of net primary productivity in the Java Sea by utilizing Aqua-MODIS satellite imagery using the Vertically Generalized Production Model (VGPM) method with a range of 2017-2021. The results showed that the waters of the Java Sea have quite high fertility and are classified as Eutrophic because the general monthly average from 2017-2021 has an NPP value of >750 mgC/m2/day. The value of primary productivity follows the seasonal pattern, will be high in the east moonson season and decrease in the west monsoon season. Laut Jawa merupakan wilayah dengan laju eksploitasi sumberdaya perikanan tertinggi di Indonesia. Sebanyak 32% dari total produksi perikanan nasional atau sebesar 2,2 juta ton berasal dari hasil tangkapan di Laut Jawa meskipun luas wilayah perairan ini hanya mencakup 7% dari total luas wilayah perairan nasional. Produktivitas perikanan tangkap berhubungan dengan nilai produktivitas primer bersih hasil dari aktivitas fitoplankton atau klorofil-a. Produktivitas primer bersih di suatu perairan dipengaruhi oleh adanya unsur hara, cahaya, klorofil-a, Photosynthetically Available Radiation (PAR) dan suhu permukaan laut (SPL). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis nilai distribusi produktivitas primer bersih di Laut Jawa dengan memanfaatkan citra satelit Aqua-MODIS menggunakan metode Vertically Generalized Production Model (VGPM) dengan rentang tahun 2017-2021. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perairan Laut Jawa memiliki kesuburan yang cukup tinggi dan tergolong Eutrofik karena rata-rata bulanan secara umum mulai dari tahun 2017-2021 memiliki nilai NPP >750 mgC/m2/hari. Nilai produktivitas primer mengikuti pola musim, akan tinggi pada musim timur (kemarau) dan menurun pada musim barat (penghujan).
