The infinite edge element method (IEEM) has been proposed as an effective method for efficiently handling open boundary region, i.e., the air region. In this paper, we present a newly defined infinite element radiated from a reference plane (RPL), and propose the combination method using various infinite element configurations, such as radiated configurations from a reference point, a reference line, and an RPL. By using the proposed hybrid method, we can drastically decrease the number of ill-shaped infinite elements and improve the computational accuracy and convergence characteristics in comparison with the conventional IEEM, especially in the case of flattened analysis models.
