“…Passatore et al (2022) studied the effects of bismuth exposure on Lepidium sativum seedlings. Similarly, the physiological and genotoxic effects of phthalate on Lemna minor and Spirodela polyrhiza were investigated by Pietrini and collaborators (Pietrini et al, 2022).…”

“…United States Environmental Protection Agency, European Nation, China, and other nations have listed dimethyl phthalate along with other five PAEs as priority pollutants (Kashyap and Agarwal, 2018). Known for its neurotoxic, reproductive, and endocrine disruptive responses, DMP has adverse effects in the health of animals and plants, leading to disfunctions in red blood cells' oxygen carrying capability, induction of blood immunotoxicity, and inhibition of growth of plants (Chi et al, 2021;Chi et al, 2022;Pietrini et al, 2022). Therefore, a more efficient degradation method for the degradation of DMP is needed.…”

“…Based on the published literatures, the acute toxicities of DMP to different aquatic organisms were in the range of 29.0-337.0 mg/L (Gao et al, 2021), and the concentrations of DMP up to 2, 50, and 250 mg/kg in sediment, soil, and sludge, respectively (Pietrini et al, 2022). Additionally, DMP can accumulate in the environment and organisms because of its intractable degradability (Wang et al, 2018;You et al, 2019).…”

“…Phthalic acid esters (PAEs) as plasticizers have caused ecological and environmental risks (Chen et al, 2020 ), of which dimethyl phthalate (DMP) is the most extensively used compound for manufacturing various products (Li et al, 2016 ; Zhang et al, 2016 ), and has also been widely detected in the ecological environment, such as surface water, groundwater, atmosphere, and soil (Wang et al, 2015a ; Zhang et al, 2015 ). Based on the published literatures, the acute toxicities of DMP to different aquatic organisms were in the range of 29.0–337.0 mg/L (Gao et al, 2021 ), and the concentrations of DMP up to 2, 50, and 250 mg/kg in sediment, soil, and sludge, respectively (Pietrini et al, 2022 ).
