Ecophysiology parameters of four Brazilian Atlantic Forest species under shade and drought stress

Abstract: The Brazilian Atlantic Forest has experienced a reduction in its original area since the discovery of Brazil. Over the last 30 years, studies and techniques for forest recovery have advanced. Establishing a self-sustainable reforested area with adequate biodiversity is the main parameter for any reforestation program. Thus, knowledge of the ecophysiological behavior of the species to be used is crucial. Our hypothesis is that certain tools are efficient in determining the ecophysiological characterization of n… Show more

“…subjected to water deficit, but not all species may exhibit this behavior. Souza et al (2010) studied four species under drought, and did not observe lower conductance rates in all these ones studied, except for Brosimum guianensis. Although Oliveira et al (2011) found similar behavior for five-month-old T. aurea, with declining conductance rates during water stress, the lowest values were found after 14 days of stress.…”

“…The ecophysiology parameters of four Brazilian Atlantic Forest under drought were evaluated by Souza et al (2010). A water deficit induced by 7 days of irrigation suspension reduced the Ψw in all the species studied, except for C. zeylancium.…”
