Economic prospects and development of the power industry in Russia

Abstract: Abstract. Our paper analyzes economic prospects and development of power engineering enterprises in Russian Federation. We show that despite the growth in use of renewable energy sources, the increase of organic fuel consumption is observed, and this is one of the key factors of traditional manufacturing effi ciency improvement related to energy conversion in the power-plant industry in Russia. Cost forecast for mastering the manufacture of advanced generation equipment by Russian enterprises can yield the pri… Show more

“…The technological structure of a TPP can be represented by three main blocks: an electric generator, a steam turbine and a boiler unit [17][18][19]. An electric generator receives energy from mechanical motion from a steam turbine, which in turn receives energy from a boiler unit.…”

“…Equipment design standards and certification procedures were implemented, which ensured significant increase of reliability and performance. Wind energy cost has decreased so much that in some cases has become competitive with traditional power sources (Fortov 2014;Hirth et al 2015;Lisin et al 2016;or Rogalev et al 2018).…”

“…The average estimated cost of electric power production within the entire life cycle of a power plant (LCOE) is the main indicator for describing and comparing power engineering projects (Pawel 2014;Lisin et al 2016). For wind power industry this indicator represents the sum of all the costs of fully operating wind power system within the project life cycle with discounted cash flows.…”

“…At the same time, import substitution is seldom positioned as an important factor of export development. Though, the researchers (irrespectively the topic of import substitution) also note that the Russian industry has a high potential not only in the internal, but also in the global market [24]. Besides, as a rule, only any one chosen region will be investigated, as it is interesting to compare the various on regional economies.…”
