Economic impact of energy saving techniques in cloud server

Abstract: In recent years, lot of research has been carried in the field of cloud computing and distributed systems to investigate and understand their performance. Economic impact of energy consumption is of major concern for major companies. Cloud Computing companies (Google, Yahoo, Gaikai, ONLIVE, Amazon and eBay) use large data centers which are comprised of virtual computers that are placed globally and require a lot of power cost to maintain. Demand for energy consumption is increasing day by day in IT firms. Ther… Show more

“…It also helps to decrease costs associated with technical expenses due to reducing "energy consumption". The main difference between GCC with "traditional cloud computing" technologies is that cloud computing tools have a major issue of extra costs due to power consumption [19]. Another differentiating factor has been observed to be "carbon emission" and GCC reduces both of these aspects.…”

“…It has fewer SLA violations which are important for maintaining QoS.In addition, the use of the DVFS technique in simulation environments such as CloudSim [9] shows that data centers can consume less energy, which provides more economical solutions. [4]. All the above-mentioned works mainly use the migration of virtual machines or bare metal containers but they do not deal with hybrid virtualization where the placement strategy plays an important role.…”
