“…In an economic evaluation of outreach assessment clinics for breast screening on three Scottish islands, higher health service costs were incurred through the cost of staff travel time and less efficient use of staff time. However this was set against reduced time and travel costs of women attending [ 36 ]. In our study, NHS costs were higher in the most remote locations, as were private costs, although the magnitude of excess private costs was relatively small, approximately £3 per subject above the average.…”
