Economic analysis of olivine melilitite powder as an alternative source of nutrients in maize cultivation

Abstract: Agriculture is characterized by the high use of fertilizers to promote higher income expectations and, due to the representativeness of this input, the cost of agricultural production is strongly affected. The present study aims to evaluate the economic efficiency of the association of olivine melilitite powder with beneficial microorganisms and the reduction of 25% chemical fertilization in maize cultivation. Five treatments were tested under a randomized block design with four replicates, represented by the … Show more

“…The rock olivine melilitite is composed of 40% mellite, 30% phlogopite, 15% clinoperoxene, 10% olivine, 5% opaque minerals, trace iron oxides, agilominerals and talc. In the chemical composition it has 35.7% Silicon oxides (SiO2), 17.4% Magnesium oxides (MgO), 14.85% Calcium oxides (CaO), 10.5% Iron oxides (Fe2O3), 2.73% Potassium oxides (K2O), 1.18% Phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5), 0.33% Sulfur (S) and 0.19% Manganese oxides (MnO), 94ppm Zinc (Zn), 63ppm Copper (Cu), 57ppm Cobalt (Co) and 385ppm Nickel (Ni) (Almeida et al 2022;Galina et al 2023).…”
