Economic Analysis of Biogas Production via Biogas Digester Made from Composite Material

Abstract: This study seeks to evaluate the economic implication of a biogas digester built from composite material to ascertain its cost effectiveness. The feasibility study conducted indicates that a brick made only of fixed dome digester costs between USD 3193.99 and USD 4471.59. This high cost is attributed to the construction material, thus prompting the need to use materials of lower cost for affordability and sustainability. Hence, the digester under study was made from composite material comprising high-density p… Show more

“…Assuming the characteristics of the biomass sample are representative across the full production, the results of biogas production (Table 6) were used in the LCA analysis. The energy content of 1 m 3 biogas was initially assumed to be equivalent to 0.46 kg LPG or 0.62 L kerosene [19,20]. The biogas yield would reduce the need for LPG, it might even be possible to use biogas alone if scale-up is accounted for.…”

“…We first constructed the biodigester and introduced sheep farming at the demo plots. Different materials of biodigester have been used widely, and environmental and economic aspects have been assessed (Obileke et al, 2022). In the current study, the fiber materials were used due to better technical performances of biogas production and economically viable for the farmer groups.…”

“…According to the results, the estimated net present value, profitability, and annuity were high, confirming that constructing a biogas plant is a favorable and feasible project. However, it requires government subsidies at the initial stage [17]. The main contribution of this paper is the evaluation of the economic and financial feasibility of biogas plants under the conditions of the Slovak Republic.…”
