The present study analysed the factors affecting the developmental trajectories of social withdrawal during adolescence. From an ecological human development perspective, we specifically assessed the role of negative parental child-rearing attitudes and positive peer relationships on social withdrawal. First, the findings showed that negative parental child-rearing attitudes promote social withdrawal and that amicable peer relationships help decrease social withdrawal. Second, factors influencing the developmental trajectories of social withdrawal were initial value and the rate of change for peer relationships. In other words, initial value and rate of change for peer relationships significantly reduced the developmental trajectories of social withdrawal in the long term. Third, negative parental child-rearing attitudes did not have a significant influence on the developmental trajectories of social withdrawal. We discuss how important relationship factors affect the developmental trajectory of social competence during adolescence.

How is performing with responsive technology in a mixed work experienced by performers, and how may the notion of embodied cognition further our understanding of this interaction? These questions are addressed here analysing accounts from singers performing the author’s mixed work Metamorphoses (2015). Combining semi-structured interviews and inspiration from Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, questions concerning the ‘self’ when listening, singing, moving and relating to fellow musicians, as well as the relationship towards the computer, are explored. The results include a notion of the computer as neither separated nor detached but both, and highlight the importance of the situation, including not only the here and now but also social and cultural dimensions. The discussion emphasises the role of sensorimotor interaction and bodily experience in human meaning-making.

Apresentamos e discutimos resultados de duas aplicações do enfoque cognitivo-ecológico em música ubíqua: no design de interação e no design instrucional. A descrição dos procedimentos utilizados na validação da metáfora da listra visa analisar as limitações e as vantagens da aplicação da perspectiva ecológica no desenvolvimento de recursos tecnológicos para o apoio à criatividade no contexto da educação informal. Também foram adotadas práticas ecocomposicionais dentro do contexto do ensino formal. Relatamos os procedimentos e os resultados obtidos em um estudo qualitativo longitudinal envolvendo alunos do ensino médio. Concluímos que o enfoque ecológico tem forte potencial de aplicação nas práticas criativas cotidianas. A proposta do presente trabalho constitui a primeira aproximação analítica ao ciclo completo de design educacional em ubimus.
