Ecological Momentary Assessment

Abstract

Ecological momentary assessments represent a methodological tool that is uniquely suited to capture time‐varying behaviors, feelings, and experiences as individuals engage in their typical routines in their own environments. The purpose of this entry is to lay out specific questions that this methodological tool helps address that advance our understanding of developmentally meaningful phenomena; to identify recent trends and key challenges that characterize research using this method, and to highlight promising avenues for future research.
