This paper aims to apply a deep learning algorithm to estimate the prediction of various external financial input variables on adopting eco-innovation practices such as renewable energy operations of 5456 SMEs. A Long Short-Term Memory Units (LSTM) is applied to the data set to evaluate the performance of different input variables on the adoption of renewable energy. Furthermore, we process the dataset with different machine learning algorithms and compare the results. The findings indicate that LSTM gives the highest performance for all metrics. As a result, some important theoretical implications for management scholars are given.

21. yüzyılda yaşanılan hızlı değişim; bilimsel, teknolojik, ekonomik, politik, ekolojik ve sosyal yaşam alanlarını etkilemiştir. Bu durum, örgütlerin çevresindeki tehdit ve değişimleri fırsata çevirebilme becerisinin önemini daha da arttırmıştır. Avusturyalı bir ekonomist, siyaset bilimci ve sosyolog Joseph Alois Schumpeter, inovasyonu teknolojik ilerlemenin birincil kaynağı olarak görmektedir. Ona göre, yenilikçi girişimciler eskiyi yok eden ve sürekli yeni şeyler ortaya koyan yaratıcı-yıkım döngüsünün ortaya çıkmasına neden olmaktaydı. Bilimsel, teknolojik ve iletişim araçlarındaki hızlı gelişmeler, küresel çapta benimsenmiş olan Toplum 5.0 yaklaşımını ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bu yaklaşımın ortaya çıkardığı gelişme ve değişmeler çerçevesinde sürdürülebilirlik kavramının yaşanabilir bir dünya açısından ön plâna çıktığı görülmektedir. Günümüzde sürdürülebilir bir dünya için Yeşil Yönetim ve Yeşil İnovasyon kavramlarının İnovasyon çalışmalarında gündeme gelmeye başladığı görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada, günümüz paradigması olan Toplum 5.0, Yeşil Yönetim ve Yeşil İnovasyon kavramlarına dikkat çekilerek bu kavramların doğru algılanmasını sağlamak amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda, önce mevcut literatür incelenmiş, daha sonra ise Google Scholar Journal veri tabanı üzerindeki yapılan aramalar ve Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu veri tabanında yapılan araştırmalar incelenmiştir. Yapılan araştırmada elde edilen verilerde “Toplum 5.0, Yeşil İnovasyon, Yeşil Yönetim” kavramları arasında güçlü düzeyde pozitif ve anlamlı bir ilişki görülmüştür.

This study examines whether there is convergence in eco-innovation by comparing the circular economy practices of European Union Member States. The European Union Member States’ eco-innovation initiatives in the circular economy are the foundation for their interpretation of their relative efficiencies. In 2015, the European Commission granted sanction to the Circular Economy Package, in accordance with the European Union’s (EU) objective of transitioning to a low-carbon economy that is competitive, resource-efficient, and environmentally sustainable. This compilation includes legislative proposals and a comprehensive action plan for refuse management. Subsequently, in January 2018, additional measures were implemented to guarantee the successful implementation of the action plan. Concurrently, numerous European Union Member States implemented substantial strategies to facilitate this transition. The current systematic literature review is conducted using the “SALSA method”, which commences with a scoping search, progresses to an evaluation, and concludes with synthesis and analysis. Its purpose was to elucidate the circular economy practices and eco-innovation activities in the European Union. The objective of this assessment is to provide a concise overview of the most recent developments and initiatives that have been implemented in the European Union since the Circular Economy Package was adopted. Furthermore, it will evaluate the strategies implemented by particular Member States in this context. Methods of scientific literature analysis, including systematic, comparative, content analysis, grouping, comparison, SALSA, and TOPSIS methods, are used in this study.
