Eco-friendly Synthesis of CRGO and CRGO/SnO2 Nanocomposite for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Green Dye

Abstract: Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was synthesized from a simple, cost-effective, and eco-friendly method by using Capsicum annuum (CA) as reducing agent. The rGO was mixed with SnO2 to synthesize a nanocomposite. The synthesized materials were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and UV–visible spectroscopy techniques. The SnO2-C. annuum reduced graphene oxide (CRGO) nanocomposite exhibited a photodegradation efficiency of 97.4% when employed to … Show more

“…Evidently, it is safe to conclude that doping is a critical parameter which may effectively vary both the structural and optical properties of ZnO nanoparticles. Interestingly, the reduction in the band gap energy is expected to enhance the photocatalytic removal of the dyes [42], since the excitation of electrons from the valance band to the conduction band utilizes considerably lower energy which may ultimately yield pronounced number of electron/hole pairs. Light-induced charge carrier's recombination characteristics of pristine and Sr-doped ZnO powdered samples have also been analyzed by Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy in 450-900 nm range and the spectrum is displayed in figure 6(b).…”

“…The growth of green gram seeds in MB and RB dye-contaminated water was not good as compared to the control and photocatalyst-treated water. 57,58 However, the growth of green gram seeds in the control is very close to the growth of seeds in Ag-doped BZOP photocatalyst treated water. The obtained result revealed that the Ag-doped BZOP photocatalyst has great potential for the cultivation process.…”
