“…This is reasonable, as government regulations prevent environmental damage and pollution (Randle & Hoye, 2016), which protect the natural resources and maintain the reputation of destinations. Moreover, environmental regulations improve eco‐efficiency (Ren, Li, Yuan, Li, & Chen, 2018) and consequently drive tourism growth of destinations (Zha, Yuan, Dai, Tan, & He, 2020). The STTID represents a government's commitment to the sustainability of tourism in a destination, which has been reported to match tourists' growing awareness of environmental issues (Pulido‐Fernández et al, 2015).…”
