Échelle de perception de la bienveillance à l’école : Validation française de la « School Kindness Scale ».

Abstract

This study aims to validate the French version of the School Kindness Scale (SKS; Binfet et al., 2016). It is based on a sample of 547 students. Results from confirmatory factor analyses have established that the factor structure of the French scale is unidimensional, consistent with previous research. The consistency indicators for the items in this dimension also align with expectations. Analyses also show expected correlations between perceived school kindness and positive emotions, satisfaction with school life, feelings of acceptance and closeness to teachers, and prosocial behaviors. The results indicate that the French version of the School Kindness Scale presents relatively robust psychometric qualities allowing a measure of perceived kindness in the school setting for a Frenchspeaking public.
