EBSD Analysis of Deformed and Partially Recrystallized Microstructures in ECAE-Processed Copper

Abstract: Abstract. The deformed microstructure and recrystallization behavior of copper samples processed using equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) have been investigated. The heavily deformed microstructure was found to be non-uniform through the sample thickness and to vary in a manner consistent with the non-uniform distribution of strain imposed by processing. The through-thickness heterogeneity of the deformed microstructure resulted in a different extent of recrystallization in different layers during annealin… Show more

“…A discussion of the motivations for the choices of the values for these parameters is given elsewhere [35]. The values used here have, however, been found to be good choices for comparing heterogeneity in refinement by HABs between samples deformed under a number of different processing conditions [34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41]. [34]; (b) sample described in [40].…”

“…Moreover, it was found that the f LMR parameter was better correlated to the variation in recrystallization behavior across the sample thickness than the f HAB parameter [9]. Further details of this investigation are given elsewhere in these proceedings [15]. Table 1: Quantitative description of the microstructure shown in Fig.…”
