EBP50 interacts with EGFR and regulates EGFR signaling to affect the prognosis of cervical cancer patients

Abstract: Ezrin-radixin-moesin-binding phosphoprotein-50 (EBP50) has a role in the occurrence and progression of multiple types of tumors. However, its role in cervical cancer (CC) remain unknown. EBP50 was reported to interact with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and regulate EGFR signaling in CC HeLa cells. In this study, the effect of EBP50 expression on CC cell proliferation and prognosis of CC patients by regulating EGFR signaling was investigated. We found that EBP50 expression level was significantly down… Show more

“…This contradiction may be explained by variable interactions between the PDZ domains and different tumour-associated proteins. For example, the PDZ domain plays an important tumour-suppressive role in cervical cancer by interacting with EGFR and regulating EGFR signalling [ 25 ]. To determine whether PDZK1 overexpression decreases PTEN phosphorylation by interacting with PTEN in pancreatic cancer, a wild-type or mutant PTEN expression plasmid were transfected into PANC-1 cells with overexpressed PDZK1.…”

“…The gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was performed as previously described (Peng et al, 2016) to assess whether genes from pre-defined gene-sets are enriched among the highest- (or lowest-) ranked genes by calculating a pathway Enrichment Score (ES).…”

“…29 Our recent studies also indicated that NHERF1 plays a critical role in cervical cancer development and cisplatin-resistant. 30,31 NHERF1 was downregulated or even undetectable in human cervical tumors, and negatively correlated with cell proliferation and poor prognosis of cervical cancer patients, 31 suggesting that downregulation of NHERF1 played a significant role in cervical cancer carcinogenesis. HPV16 E6 rather than HPV18 E6, induced degradation of NHERF1.…”
