European eels (Anguilla anguilla L.) has a great dispersion from Sargasso Sea to across the Europe and North Africa. Their population have decreased dramatically over the years and listed in IUCN as critically endangered. Stock estimation is one of the important issues in order to sustainable management of this species. Last decades, researchers have focused various studies which based on monitoring of various life stages of eels. Manual counting methods with ladder traps is commonly used based on collection of glass and elver stages of eels from the natural habitats while their migration to upward of streams. During their special migration pattern, a counting device on the eel ladders can be designed so that the eels may be counted while passing through this device. The offered prototype was designed for eel ladders which was briefly, powered by an open-source electronics platform, Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) and 650 nm Laser light were used to count elver eels. Several trials were conducted to test this prototype and results were promising. This study aimed to explain features of prototype and working principle of elver counter. Designed prototype has several advantages such as usable with eel ladders, easy to customisation and affordable characteristics. However, this device needs some improvements in order to effective usages in the field.

DC Grids for Smart LED-Based Lighting: The EDISON Solution

This paper highlights the benefits and possible drawbacks of a DC-based lighting infrastructure for powering Light Emitting Diode (LED)-lamps. It also evaluates the efforts needed for integrating the so called smart lighting and other sensor/actuator based control systems, and compares existing and emerging solutions. It reviews and discusses published work in this field with special focus on the intelligent DC-based infrastructure named EDISON that is primarily dedicated to lighting, but is applicable to building automation in general. The EDISON "PowerLAN" consists of a DC-based infrastructure that offers telecommunication abilities and can be applied to lighting retrofitting scenarios for buildings. Its infrastructure allows simple and efficient powering of DC-oriented devices like LED lamps, sensors and microcontrollers, while offering a wired communication channel. This paper motivates the design choices for organizing DC lighting grids and their associated communication possibilities. It also shows how the EDISON based smart lighting solution is evolving today to include new communication technologies and to further integrate other parts of building management solutions through the OneM2M (Machine to Machine) service bus.

To ensure the security of the top-level design of the security gateway, we proposed a method of formally designing and verifying a typical security gateway. Firstly, we designed the typical security gateway's security policy according to its security requirements. Secondly, we formally modeled the security policy and verified the security model's internal consistency by means of BLP model. In the end, we verified the consistency between the security gateway's functional specifications and its security model. To make sure the reasoning procedure's correctness, we used the theorem prover Isabelle/HOL to formally describe the above work and help us deduce. Our work ensures the security of a typical security gateway in terms of top-level design and exerts certain referential significance on formal design of security gateway.
