Easily Available High‐Performance Organic Solar Cells by Regulating Phenylalkyl Side Groups of Non‐Fused Ring Electron Acceptors

Abstract: Although non-fused ring electron acceptors (NFREAs) have received increasing attention due to their relatively low synthetic costs, the achievement of high efficiencies strongly depends on tedious pre-or/and posttreatments to refine the active layers, which in turn greatly increase fabrication complexity and expense of organic solar cells (OSCs). Nowadays most of the available as-cast devices based on NFREAs are below 12% efficiencies. Herein, phenylalkyl category side groups (CnPh) are employed to construct n… Show more

“…[ 39 ] The inductance (L) in the equivalent circuit model is used to eliminate the impact of the connecting line during high‐frequency scanning. [ 40 ] R CT and R OS are the charge transfer resistance and parasitic series resistance, respectively, which can be gained from the equivalent‐circuit model. The fitted parameters of APSCs obtained from the equivalent circuit model are inserted in Figure 4b.…”

“…Bao et al employed phenylalkyl category side groups (CnPh) to construct new NFRAs named BOR-C3Ph, BOR-C4Ph, and BOR-C6Ph, respectively, which exhibit inherently decent molecular aggregation. 108 More intriguingly, the subtle variations in CnPh chains trigger remarkable regulation of aggregation and photovoltaic performance. The BOR-C3Ph receives a disorderly orientated strong self-aggregation property, which can be effectively transformed into superior, orderly face-on orientations for BOR-C4Ph.…”

“…[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] Conjugated polymers have important advantages for the realization of eco-and human-friendly electronics, apart from their attractive properties such as scalability, solution processability, ability to be rationally tuned by synthetic design, and diverse material properties. [14][15][16][17][18][19] Extensive work has been conducted in designing fully biodegradable and biocompatible conjugated polymers for electronic device applications such as organic thinfilm transistors (OTFTs). [20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27] More importantly, chemically recyclable conductive polymers can provide a solution for the waste generated by the disposal of electronic devices (e-waste).…”
